Hybrid IT, Connectivity, Channel Partners in Data Centers

Our carrier density strategy is all about diversity, resiliency, and multiple paths to mitigate single points of failure for our data center customers. One of our strategic cloud service provider partners supporting this strategy is Microsoft.

Cyxtera spends a lot of time on network planning to ensure every customer has access to Microsoft Azure ExpressRoute. Azure ExpressRoute is Microsoft’s private connectivity solution to the Microsoft Cloud. Customers can work with Cyxtera and their ecosystem partners to configure private connectivity to Microsoft for services such as Azure Virtual Machines, Azure Platform Services, Dynamics 365 and Office 365. Customers can also take advantage of this capability when looking for high bandwidth, low latency and predictable connections to the Microsoft Cloud.

We commonly see customers extending their private networks to their Azure Virtual Machines over Private Peering on Azure ExpressRoute. Other popular scenarios include backup, disaster recovery and workloads such as SAP, High Performance Computing and Open Source solutions. You can find more information on Azure ExpressRoute by visiting Microsoft’s documentation page here.

Azure ExpressRoute offers high availability as part of the service. A single ExpressRoute circuit has two paths traversing separate physical links between Microsoft and the ExpressRoute partner. Cyxtera’s ecosystem of network service providers has designed dual entrances, dual central offices, diverse metro paths, and long-haul systems. This thoughtful network planning ensures uptime and delivers a fault tolerant network experience.

Cyxtera is proud to offer ExpressRoute services across our entire global footprint of 57 data centers. We have partnered with AT&T, BT, CenturyLink Cloud Connect, Comcast, Colt, euNetworks, Megaport, NTT, PacketFabric, PCCW, SingTel, Telus, Verizon, and Zayo CloudLink to provide Azure ExpressRoute connectivity. All our ecosystem providers design dedicated interfaces to the on-ramp of your choice. They can be designed in the metro for active/active replication, or to different availability zones for diversity purposes. Finally, there is no middle-man, or other exchange point in the middle of this design. Our ecosystem network providers offer clean, direct paths increasing performance and reducing latency.

Cyxtera works very closely with our network ecosystem community on network planning for our data center customers. Our goal is to deliver 100% power/space and network connectivity, coupled with clean, resilient paths to Azure ExpressRoute.
